Healing Art of Watercolor - Published in Somatic Psychotherapy Today Magazine

Big but pleasant surprise came my way when one of Psychological magazines asked for a permission to place my abstract painting Dancing Water on the cover of their Winter issue.
On another hand, any abstract painting involves both, spontaneity and careful planing, either it is Artist's intuition or years of practice, or both. And I guess, the abstract art does trigger people imagination. So, why not! Here is a pure psychology in full its glory:

When Paris Comes To San Francisco

This new painting accompanied with five others, is now on Geary Blvd in San Francisco.
Recently opened Cafe Coco  invited me to show my large artworks there:

4201 Geary
(between 7th Ave & 6th Ave)
San FranciscoCA 94118

I don't think I'd ever be tired of painting the Eiffel Tower. Each time I do it, I find new intricate nuances. This time I made The Tower almost weightless, floating in the orange purple dramatic skies of Paris.

2013 Sketchbook Project - California

And here the rest of the sketches for 2013 project:

The Sketchbook is ready to travel to NY and explore the World in the Travel Library:

Today (12.21.2012) is my Mom's Birthday, and some people said it would be the end of the World. Others mention that we are entering a beautiful time of Great Consciousness. Anyway, I am glad that we are alive and prosper.
After calling my Mom in the morning I looked through the window and saw a gorgeous Sunrise with the Rainbow. Isn't it a Wonderful Beginning of the day (and a possible new photo reference for a future painting)
:0)

Drifted Away With Lines - Oakland Marina, California - Plein-Air

Last Saturday I went to a plein-air painting to Oakland Marina, next to Quinn's Lighthouse. What a beautiful place! The weather allowed us to paint from 9:00am to 11:00am and then it started raining. Rain, as you know is not the best friend of watercolor artists. So, we had to hide in the restaurant for our critique; which was actually not bad at all. With the hot coffee, french fries, and warm environment, the critique spread to good couple of hours.

We gathered all out paintings into a middle of the dining hall.

Masha Batkova's Watercolor and Ink artwork depicts a nice morning at the Marina

Watercolor Cat

Oh, not me.. she "Didn't Do It".. I did paint her.. :0)
My customers provided the photos of their friend's cat and asked me to paint her.
They will make a gift and surprise their friend.
This cat is a precious part of their friend's life.

Meet Anna: a 14-year old fuzz-ball.

When I saw the pictures I wanted to add some color to her life, not just a gray pavement. And I wanted to place some story into my painting. The cat looked to me young even though I knew her age. So, I thought that some kid-ish thing will be well appropriate for her.

And here it goes: SHE DIDN'T DO IT ;0)

While working last weekend at the Gallery Concord, I've sketched a couple of cards; and, here they are:

And later on, I had fun designing Christmas Theme cards and Prints made with my watercolors:

Then my imagination ran wild and I even made Kitchen Towels and Christmas Plates (using Zazzle.com service):

When Visual Art Meets Music

I am happy to present a young talented composer Rebecca Tripp with her lovely music.

Rebecca creates short compositions and compliments them with Art from many great artists. I am so glad my Poinsettia paintings grabbed her attention :0)

Seven Minutes Before Christmas

It's probably the last Christmas painting for this season.
Why Seven Minutes? I don't know.
As if somebody was moving my brush to place the clock-hands to that position.

And here is a funny story:
I had to make the background wash several times.  Strathmore watercolor paper is not as pretty as Arches. It needs a lot of work and skill to have the wash the Artist want. So, when I was satisfied with the wash, moved on to the details of the fireplace (practically had to "build" that thing brick by brick) and so on; when I took picture and looked at the background I realized that there is a shadow (reflected on the wall)... Guess who is that?!! Right! That's why my hand moved the clock to Seven Minutes Before Christmas :0)
...........................

Oh, and later I made a cute Christmas card out of this painting with the holiday greetings:

Emergency Berries

I've received a call from my customer for an extra Jam Label project. This time it was Blueberry Label. Thank Goodness I had photo reference for the berries. I just went outside and grabbed the blueberry bush leaves.. and to my absolute surprise: I've found that our blueberry bushes started blooming getting confused with warm weather.. Oh well, first, the apple tree surprised me, now blueberries. I guess it served me as an artist well though . And I hope the jam will be as sweet as my painted berries :0)
I was so pleased to see the photo from my customer, who is now utilizing the Jam Label Project and making a wonderful jam:

I hope my Blueberries Painting will build a Greater Pyramid.

How Far Can Little Angel Fly

Last week I sent my Little Christmas Angel to more than 50 customers and art collectors in a form of greeting cards; and this Saturday I was invited to an Art Fair in a small Concord community where my Angel spread the wings again. Lots of smiles, Christmas music, and a Holiday Spirit filled the room:

Art, Jewelry, and even Beauty secrets were presented there. I've met wonderful people and had a good time:
Edie S. Payne with Premier Designs, Inc ( ediespayne@yahoo.com)

Michele Cobo, Independent beauty consultant

And right after the Art Fair, my Little Angel painting (and 17 other paintings) were invited for solo exhibition in downtown Martinez; but this is another post's story :0).

Fly, Angel, Fly !!!

Credit: all above pictures and the photo reference for my Angel Painting were made by a wonderful photographer, Masha Batkova, my sister :0)

Top 20 - Art For Kids

This year I created a new gallery Art For Kids on my Fine Art America website. And it is so nice to admit that my work was noticed by FAA art community; and I made into Top 20 artist in the
Here are just a few recent designs from this gallery (more to come):

It was fun to PLAY with letters. And, my ambition for the next year is to set up whole alphabet from my paintings. So far only 15 letters are created. I am going to post them on my new blog Art For Kids Room soon.

Art That Liked to Be Framed

I was asked several times to show how my art looks in frames. I shot a few e-mails to my customers and asked them to send me pictures with my art-on-a-wall. And some of them did. Here is the small art show from all of the World :0).. It is so nice to see how my customers put their hearts and a great care for the art!

This little girl's portrait is framed by my dear Art Collector from Great Britain:

The Eiffel Tower with Two Friends is now lives in Canada. My customer framed it to make a wedding gift for her girlfriend:

My client from Spain framed the art but had to take it off the wall while remodeling:

And here the art from my dear Art Collector from Russia:

Framed Art looks so great on the walls of another art collector from San Leandro, California

Beautiful Norway Fjord brought lots of good memories to my customer from Floral Park, NY:

Even my self-portrait that one of my customers purchased got a special frame. Here it is: now "living" in San Rafael, California

Girl and the Ocean painting found her cozy home in Sacramento, California:

The Garden Tomatoes painting brought some Sunlight to one of Phoenix, Arizona homes :0). My dear art collector from Alamo, California purchased it for her friend:

Even prints when framed look stunning on my customers' walls :0). The Sleeping Baby portrait is bringing warm smiles to my customer from American Canyon, California. She loves her granddaughter's Angel Face. And she picked the beautiful baby-pink for the frame mat:

The Sunflower painting print (bestseller print on Fine Art America) looks lovely in my client's dining room (Mission Viejo, California; the original is landed in Canada years ago)

As you can see my Art Collectors are quiet artistic people themselves and have a very good eye for a good art :0)
