Purple Flowers Watercolor - Bay Area Flowers Series

Bay Area flora

My exploration of the Arches Hot Pressed Paper is in progress. "Some Like It Hot" series is moving along well.

Above is the painting of the cute purple-pink flowers that I discovered in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. I tried to find their name online but all in vain.

These flowers grow in a cluster of purple stars, sitting on an average size bush. The stems are fuzzy; and, therefore, in the morning each stem has a million teeny tiny due drops. This makes the flowers look as if they float in the air supported with some magic purple streams of water.

The Oldest Student I've Ever Had

Last Thursday I was teaching seniors at Assisted Living facility in Pleasant Hill, CA on behalf of Outreach program with CWA

My oldest student that day was 98 years old. She did incredible job on following instructions, painting and most importantly having lots of fun.
We were exercising Spring and Easter themes through a negative painting approach, dotted technique, and even had time to try wet-on-wet approach.

Wonderful photos by Maria Batkova, who is now a proud CWA member and a great assistant

A Hope To Find A Cure for Parkinson's

These two paintings are donated to the 2013 Celebrate Hope Gala to benefit Parkinson's research resources (www.progala.org). I hope my vegetables somehow can help  "making a recipe" to cure  this nasty disease in the future.

Seven Paintings in Two Days

Recently I helped my friend to decorate her house. It took me two evenings to paint 7 paintings. I made a Sunset Mountains diptych for her bedroom:

I painted two season paintings for her living room:

I thought the Rose Bouquet still life will look great in her dining room:

And a Tulip painting together with Lilac Bouquet in white antique frames will look lovely in her bathroom and kitchen:

Oh, did I mention that all seven paintings are only 1"x1.5" ? Yes they are!

Those seven cuties are for my friend's Doll House :0)

I had lots of fun painting these watercolors :0)
