Painting on handmade paper has its own rules. As a professional artist watercolorist, I love the challenge and use my skill to create beautiful paintings in one step. The reason an artist has to be quick as handmade watercolor paper absorbs water fast, and it is not that easy to lift the paint once it is on its place. Therefore painting on handmade paper is not easy for the beginners, and requires years of practice.
But when I paint on handmade paper, I enjoy the spontaneity and uniqueness of the results. The paper is truly alive for me and it has its own character. The paintings on handmade paper that are also painted by hand of an artist really glow and bring joy.
